My lovely ladies: pictures and video from the Wedding Hive show

We are lucky at the Wedding Hive to be able to collaborate with many talented local artists.  During our most recent show (February 25th) we had both a videographer, and a photographer to capture every moment.  A big thank you to Jeff Evrard and Maura Coleman-Murray for documenting an event that flew by all too quickly.

Some of the photos of my lovely models, Jamie, Erin, and Jeanee:

Thanks girls for donating your time, and patience, I hope it was a lot of fun!  To view the complete set of photos please visit Jeff Evrard's Flickr (please give full credit to photographer).

The Wedding Hive was also sought out by Maura Coleman-Murray of Creative Video.  A creative soul looking to interact with other artists Maura collaborated with the Hive and created a video montage from the show including all the vendors, and amazing footage from the runway.  As an amateur video editor myself I am in awe of Maura's abilities:

Maura mainly does videography for weddings in HD and also in a Super 8 style, which is a fun and quirky twist on the traditional wedding video.  Please find more of her beautiful work on her Vimeo site and Website.

Hope you have a happy Saturday lovelies, I'm working at bon bon atelier today, so come visit me and buy some pretties!

I need your help! Calling all interior design friends...

For the first time in my life I have a blank canvas and no idea what to do with it.  As you may know we are re-painting and re-decorating much of the interior of our home.  I've finished two rooms so far and been very happy with the results.  I knew just what colors I wanted, what kind of look, etc:

However with the downstairs rooms I am faced with a unique challenge, dark brown woodwork.  It's beautiful wood, and although I've wrestled with the idea I have decided not to paint it.  However it presents a decorating challenge that I find myself having a hard time with.  The dining room will be a very dark eggplant purple, but for the living room I wanted something that would bring more light to the room.  I was thinking of leaving it white or maybe a warmer white and just doing bright artwork, furniture and other decor.  But I want your opinion dear readers:

Thanks for your help, and wish me luck on my continued home improvement journey!  I'll post results as soon as I have it finished.

Etsy Love: Anchors Away my Love

I wasn't sure what to do for this weeks Etsy Love, but I became inspired when I found the lovely blue dress below to do a nautical theme.  I'm becoming more and more aware as the daylights sticks around longer and the weather warms that spring and summer is just around the corner.  So enjoy these lovely items, and remember, buy handmade!

The Money Pit: Chronicles of a Brookside Home Owner

Mod Green Pod just released their new fabrics and wallpapers, and it's definitely love at first sight.  Hand printed on organic fabric and vinyl-free wallpaper using non-toxic ink, their products are both beautiful and environmentally friendly.  Now to convince Matt that we need these things for the house:

I'm thinking one of these two wallpapers to cover part of the dining room walls

and one of these for the love seat that will soon be in the kitchen:

I can see it now!  Happy Wednesday lovelies, and don't forget to come out and enjoy the beautiful weather for First Fridays and come see me at Scarlett Garnet Studios, 504 East 18th St in the Crossroads district (right by Grinders).  I'll be selling bon bon atelier's wares, along with some of my jewelry.  See you there!

Egg sandwiches and Xanadu

Woke up this morning, did some work, and decided to make myself an egg sandwich.  I sat down to watch a little TV while I enjoyed my breakfast and saw "Xanadu" on the guide.  I figured what the hey, I'll give it a watch.  I won't say it was a mistake, just that it's one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen.  I watched for about 8 minutes and then turned to my computer to catch up on my Google Reader.  However I'm glad I left it on because I was able to catch this little fashion nugget:

Olivia+NewtonJohn

This picture does not fully capture the awesomeness of this sparkly catsuit, but let's just say it was by far the best part of the movie!  Me-owwww!

Flower Mania at my house.

Last week in addition to the Wedding Hive's event I also had a flower order for one of my favorite new clients Junior League of Kansas City Missouri.  I've done two events for them now, and am excited to continue working with them in the future.  A big thanks to Erin for hooking me up with this great group!

As you can imagine with two floral related events my house was transformed into flower land.  Yes I have a studio for this kind of work, but I thought, it's just a few small arrangements.  However I can't complain about having flowers oozing out of my ears, what could be more lovely really?

I decided to go with some lovely seasonal arrangements.  I was inspired to use yellow because of the forsythia, and just went from there.
