For the Love of Flowers: Lindsay and Warren

Lindsay was one of the "easy" brides of the 2011 wedding season.  The sister of my husbands good friend from law school I instantly felt she was going to be great to work with.  It didn't hurt that she'd already been in a wedding I'd worked on previously (Erin and Matt's from back in the spring, which I never posted about for some reason, stay tuned for that one).  Lindsay wanted purple in all different shades, and basically gave us total freedom to create and design.  Here's what we came up with for her and Warren's day...

Plum, purple, and lavender bridal bouquet

We got lucky that weekend with some gorgeous plum colored ranunculus and dahlias.

This may or may not have been a fake "working" picture...

I also collaborated with Lindsay to create a custom pearl and rhinestone brooch and ostrich feather fascinator that she added to her hair after the ceremony for a little bit of fun.

A big thank you to Lindsay and Warren for letting me be a part of your big day, and to Sarah Dickerson Photography for her lovely shots.

Events a la emmy-ray: Californos Bridal Open House

On June 6th I was lucky enough to be invited to participate in the open house/wedding fair at Californos.  I had just finished working Shannon and Nathan's lovely wedding a few days before, and had some leftover flowers from some arrangements and bouquets I rescued during clean-up.  I did a little fluffing and re-arranging and came up with some fun arrangements.  Crystals and feathers aren't my typical style, but it was fun to try out something a little bit different (plus you gotta love the candlelight).

The hyacinths in this bouquet smelled AMAZING!

I had to wait til just the right moment to snap this picture so the back lighting would be purple/magenta.

Not too shabby for a bunch of leftovers, eh?

For the Love of Flowers: The Hombre Effect

I had some flowers left from a mock up for a client and decided to play around.  I wanted to create an hombre effect, dark to white, but probably needed about two more colors of flowers to really make it work.  Plus the flowers were actually dark purple, and lavender, but came out pink on film.  Just goes to show that colors don't always translate when photographed.

I've also decided Hazel is officially my business mascot since she can't seem to stay out of any of the pictures I take of flowers.

Monkey Business: A Baby Shower for Peanut

This weekend Claudia, me, and both our moms threw a baby shower for my cousin Angela.  She is due in August and going to have a baby girl, and while the name is top secret, they call her "Peanut" for now (and probably forever).  Mama to be told us her nursery is lavender and monkeys, so we ran with that theme for the shower.  There were friends and family to celebrate, games, and lots of adorable gifts.  We're all so excited to meet our little "Peanut".

My mom who is also Angela's godmother made tons of delicious lemon and chocolate cupcakes.  Yum!
