Flowers: Baby Watson

IMG_1919
Two of my dearest friends had their first baby boy back in October.  His name is Watson, and he's just the sweetest little thing.  Her mom special ordered an arrangement from me to bring to the hospital, and I was more than happy to oblige.  We discussed, and she wanted something that wasn't overly feminine.  I thought yellow would be a goood choice, and added some fresh green and lots of textural elements.  Special flowers for a special little one!

Events: Kansas City Perfect Wedding Guide Luncheon

IMG_4995
Back in the spring/summer I was approached by Perfect Wedding Guide to do flowers for a luncheon of other wedding professionals.  I happily agreed for the opportunity to share some of our work with a room full of Kansas City vendors.  To compliment the River Market Event Place I wanted to use grey and white linens, and then bright summery colors.  I used our mercury glass vases, and also created some tall arrangements.  All in all I'd say they were a fun addition to the space, and were modern and fresh!

My So Called Life: Reflections on the New Year

New Years

My plan was to start of the new year with a bang.  Back in the office, ready to work, learn QuickBooks finally, the list goes on.  However things came up, as they often do, and that didn't exactly happen.  That's alright though, right?  I've got so many creative ideas and projects, I'm nearly bursting, but it's finding the time and energy to accomplish them that I sometimes have trouble with.

However there's one thing I know for sure, I want to get back to this blog.  It's been neglected for way to long, and it was one of my very first blogging projects.  It's evolved and changed in so many ways, but I want to get back to why I love blogging.  There's so much inspiration I love to look at, and DIY projects I'm ready to create.  We did so much amazing floral work in 2012 that I still haven't shared.

So cheers to 2013, I'm really excited for all the new possibilities this new year might bring!

For the Love of Flowers: Erin and Daniel, June 2012

2013 is almost here, yikes!  Where did this year go?  I've been going through all my floral images from this year, and trying to catch up on adding them so everyone can see what kept us so busy this year.  I have to say that each and every wedding we worked on was one that I can be proud of, and it's a good feeling.  So much loveliness, and I can't take credit for it all, I've had some wonderful brides and grooms to collaborate with this year.  Erin was one of those brides.  When we met I felt like I really "got her".  Her and her fiance Daniel were getting married in her parents backyard, in a barn that finished construction just in time for their event.  She wanted a very wildflower feel to her bouquets and decor, and we incorporated some vintage elements as well, like milk glass.  The ceremony set up was so sweet, and despite the heat it was a lovely event from start to finish.  Thanks so much for having us you two, we loved working on your big day!

For the Love of Flowers: Kristen and Luke, June 2012

There's so much that I can say about Kristen and Luke's day, but I think it's pretty clear from all their pictures just how wonderful they are.  It's always a great feeling when you book a client who you, for lack of a better word, gel with.  Kristen's vision for the day was vintage, eclectic, soft, and romantic, just our style.  I can't take all the credit for how amazing it turned out either.  I loved the beautiful mint green bridesmaids dresses, and all the pieces of china that she collected for the arragements, and for every guests place setting.  Plus the venue is one of our favorites, The Foundation, and the photographers We Are the Parsons captured everything beautifully!  It also doesn't help when the bride is totally gorgeous.  Thanks so much for having us you guys, we loved being part of your day!

For the Love of Flowers: Heather and Mark, June 2012

Heather and Mark are a classic couple.  Heather's vision was a beautiful romantic event, with touches of metallic silver.  The flowers for their day couldn't have come in more perfect, fluffy white hydrangeas, soft ruffled peach garden roses, and those coral peonies?  Amazing (but I can't take any credit for that), and I loved the contrast between the soft brides bouquet, and the bold bridesmaids bouquets.  We created a HUGE statement arrangement for the escort card, definitely our largest to date.  Thank you so much for letting us be part of your day guys, and thanks to C. Lynne Photography for some of their lovely images.

DIY Projects: Thanksgiving Decor

I'm not hosting Thanksgivign this year, but it doesn't mean my mind isn't running rampant with lots of fun ideas for what I would do to decorate our table.  I've been sharing a few of them around the internets.  They're super duper easy (like anyone can do them), and look like you spent hours and hours on them.  It's all about groupings of simple to make items, which is key if you're busy cooking a Thanksgiving feast. Pop on over and check them out!

Here's the Fall Leaves Vases that I shared over on White Table Style.

And the super simple Squash and Taper Candle DIY on Paper Muse Press.

Hooray for Thanksgiving.  I can't wait to gorge myself on delicious food, and spend lots of time with family and friends!
