Events: GoBlogSocial

I'm so honored to have been chosen to speak on a panel at Kansas Cities very first blogging conference, GoBlogSocial.  I'll be on the panel talking about blogging for business called "Taking Your Blog Offline-How to Build Your Business" on Friday August 2nd.  There's going to be so many fabulous speakers at the event.  Here's a little more about it:

Events: March KC Blogger Meetup

I'm kind of a blog-o-holic (in case you didn't know, find out more here).  I love reading them, and I love writing them.  As much as magazines, books, and everyday life, blogs are so inspiring to me.  That's why I decided, along with my friend Jeanee, to start the KC Blogger Meetup.  It's a community for bloggers, where we can all hang out in real life, learn, and grow our blogs.  We meet every month, and our group is one year old.  Hooray!  

Last week we had our March 2013 meetup, hosted by Tulip boutique on the Country Club Plaza.  The event was coordinated by Kara and Melina of Edit.  They had a Derby Day theme, with some amazing hats for sale, and all proceeds went to benefit The Mission Project, a great organization that helps adults with down-syndrome and autism, lead full lives on their own.  We had a great turn-out, and I had lots of fun hanging out with some of my favorite blogging ladies.

Events: Kansas City Perfect Wedding Guide Luncheon

Back in the spring/summer I was approached by Perfect Wedding Guide to do flowers for a luncheon of other wedding professionals.  I happily agreed for the opportunity to share some of our work with a room full of Kansas City vendors.  To compliment the River Market Event Place I wanted to use grey and white linens, and then bright summery colors.  I used our mercury glass vases, and also created some tall arrangements.  All in all I'd say they were a fun addition to the space, and were modern and fresh!

Events: Tables That Bloom

Back in April I participated in a fun local fundraiser called Tables That Bloom hosted by Delta Gamma.  Julie, from Coordinately Yours, and I brainstormed ideas and created a concept for the table design.  We went with a sherbert themed palette with lots of pinks, peaches, and oranges, and lovely lush leafy greens.  A big thank you to Amanda Eaton Photography for capturing everything for us, even in such ridiculous florescent light everything looks lovely! Big Announcement: Paper Muse Press

I'm so excited to share today that I am writing for a brand new blog!  What's this blog you may be asking?  Why it's Paper Muse Press of course.  

Paper Muse Press is a brand new stationary, and photo card retail site that will be launching very soon.  They wanted to write a blog alongside the actual site to give a personal, and creative voice to their products, and they chose me (blush).  I'll be posting DIY projects, home decor, inspiration posts, gift and entertaining ideas, recipes, the list goes on and on.  Here's a few posts that are already up on the blog:

My So Called Life: KC Blogger Meetup

In January my friend Jeanee (from Dirty Laundry) came to me with the idea to do a KC Blogger Meetup.  We'd both attended meet ups before, and I know that I really enjoy getting to know new blogging ladies.  I made some fun KC cookies and cupcakes with pink icing.  It was such a fun night, and I can't wait til we can put the next event together.  Pop on over to the KC Blogger Meetup site to see even more pictures, and if you'd like to join us for our next event please visit the site for more info.

Events: The Big Reveal Wedding Show

The Big Reveal is a unique wedding show here in Kansas City that takes place at several different event venues throughout the downtown area.  Trolley's shuttle brides from spot to spot where they meet vendors in all different categories.  I think the concept is great because it allows brides to see event spaces as well as the work of vendors in a setting other than a convention center where the larger shows are held.  

 

My inspiration for my display came from a swatch of floral print fabric I found at bon bon atelier.  It had light and dark pinks, a rich plum, and chartreuse green (one of my favorite colors), along with beautiful lilies, roses, and other flowers.  I took the color scheme and ran with it, creating arrangements large and small, bouts, bouquets, and table settings.  Always fun to be able to do whatever I want with at table.

I made cotton strips with rough edges by tearing the fabric, and also mixed in some satin ribbon as well.  I got the idea from this amazing wedding I saw on Ruffled blog (by Bash Please! and shot by Love Me Sailor) and knew I wanted to incorporate it.

I found this metal screen this summer and thought it would be perfect for some of the outdoor wedding ceremonies we're doing this year.  I added flowers to the top and swagged the fabric down for a bit of extra color.  I wanted it to look a bit "undone" and not super formal.

One of people's favorite elements was the place settings with the green spider mum inside the globe vase.  I think having a complete set up really helps brides envision what their reception could look like.

I used Creative Candles in a deep plum color all over the table in pretty stacked circle holders.  Thanks for checking out my table design, hope you enjoyed my inspiration!

Turquoise, Lace, and Peach

I created this table scape for an open house event at the River Market Event Place.  The inspiration was one of my 2011 brides and what we're planning for her event.  I absolutely love collecting vintage glassware, and have always been drawn to this beautiful teal blue jewel tone.  Plus the amazing lime light hydrangeas, and peach garden roses definitely didn't hurt either.

I whipped up a bouquet after the event and Matt helped me take some pictures, but he's a bit camera shy sometimes.
