New Bow Tie Designs, Hooray!

I'm working right now on my first custom order for bow ties for the wedding of Bryan and Mae a talented photography couple I met through Middle of the Map Weddings.  Mustard colored in a mix of different fabrics, so much fun!  Here's the inspiration board they put together of their grooms men's "look".

I'm also excited about some of the fun new fabrics that I've made the most recent batch of bow ties out off.  The bright colors are perfectly summery.  Here's a few of my favorites:

For the Love of Flowers: Kristin and Matt

The first thing that struck me about Kristin when I met her was her smile.  She's so warm and friendly, and although she definitely had a clear idea about what she wanted for her wedding, she gave me the freedom as a designer to inject my own sense of style into the flowers.  She chose a fresh color palette of grey, yellow, and green to compliment the outdoor space where the wedding was held.  Congratulations Kristin and Matt, and thanks so much for using me as your designer!

For the Love of Flowers: Pink and Green Heaven

One of my favorite things about doing flowers is working with and for my family and friends.  Recently my father in laws business celebrated their 25th anniversary and they hired me to do some flowers for their dinner.  I wanted to do something colorful and fun, and green and pink instantly sprang to mind.  I love being able to go to the wholesalers and just shop around for whatever tickles my fancy, and in this case it was peonies, asters, some green trick, and spiders, and these beautiful peach/pink rose they just happened to have on hand.  

Green trick is one of my favorites.  I love it's mossy/grassy texture.

I also made up a little bouquet to shoot before I stuck these guys in one of the arrangements.  The roses and peonies were just to full and lovely to pass up.

Saturday Matinee: Donna's Dress Shop

If you live in Kansas City, you're a woman, and you love vintage, you absolutely need to go to Donna's Dress Shop.  And you don't just have to love vintage either, she features new clothing as well, and her shop is just too lovely and adorable not to be seen.  Here's a video all about Donna, her business, and why she loves doing what she does...

My So Called Life: 4th of July

This past weekend was absolutely glorious.  With no weddings, and no social plans, Matt and I took the entire 4 days to ourselves to relax and enjoy each others company.  It might sound boring, but I think that it's always worth it to take a break every once in awhile and recharge, especially since I have 4 weddings coming up in the next two weeks!  Don't get me wrong I love what I do, and I love being busy, but everyone needs to rest once in awhile right?

For 4th of July we spent the day at Matt's parents house, and then headed out to my cousins for the annual BBQ.  We ate lots of good food, and enjoyed fireworks on the golf course to end the night.  It was a pretty perfect way to end the weekend.

We had a photo shoot with my cousins dogs and my two little sisters.  Needless to say things got a little silly (Tara's telling Guiness a secret?)

Red or Black?

By now my black hair has faded to a dark brown, and I've got some crazy roots growing.  In other words I need to get my hair colored again, and I've been missing my red hair lately.  Especially when I look at these pictures of Jane from Sea of Shoes.  Of course I look nothing like her (she's so crazy adorable) but I think red hair is unique and striking...

 

So what do you guys think, red or black?
